GREYHOUND CHARACTERISTICS

They are a calm and gentle breed
Greyhounds have the ability to run up to 45 miles in two strides
This is the main reason a fence is required in their new homes for their safety
They are indoor dogs; having only 16% body fat and thin coats
Being able to see over 1/2 a mile away, it is crucial that they are wearing a lead and collar when outside and not in a fenced in area
Greyhounds require minimal maintenance since they have no sweat glands and are not prone to shedding
Ex-racing greyhounds do not require daily exercise
Greyhounds are couch potatoes and enjoy a soft and comfortable bed
The average lifespan is 12-14 years of age and are not susceptible to large breed conditions such as hip dysphasia
Greyhounds are wonderful with children and other pets due to being both patient and kind - which is the reason they make the perfect companions
