Rescue and Adoption Process
- Ex-racing greyhounds are normally retired between the ages of 2-5
years old.
- They are picked up by us and immediately taken to our veterinary
Dr. Goranflo from the Auburndale Animal Hospital.
- The newly arrived greyhounds will have a complete medical check-up,
receive a bath, all necessary shots, flea and heartworm medications,
are neutered or spayed and have their teeth cleaned.
- The greyhounds are then placed foster homes which helps them adjust
to their new environments. The foster parents will then familiarize
them to stairs, windows, doors, riding in cars, socialization with children
and other pets, and begin the house-breaking process
- Within just a few days, the greyhounds quickly adjust to their new
surroundings.
-
Applications will then be reviewed and home visit
appointments are then scheduled
with the entire family.
-
A greyhound will then be selected which will provide
a stable and compatible relationship for both the family and the newly
adopted greyhound.
